Senior School

Bespoke Pathways Facilitating Excellence

At Bayswater Secondary College we pride ourselves on our ability to offer a wide range of Senior pathway options in a small setting where, through a rigorous course counselling process, we work with students and their families to create a bespoke Senior School pathway, enabling all students to achieve success throughout and beyond their Senior Secondary School years.

2023 will see a number of changes to the Senior School program, with the introduction of the new Senior School certificate, consisting of the VCE and the VCE Vocational Major.

Our Core Year 10 program is open to all students and enables them to further explore a variety of learning options through our core and elective program prior to making pathway selections for Years 11 and 12.  The program consists of the traditional core studies of English, Mathematics, Humanities, Science, Physical Education and Health, with a variety of elective options available in all core areas, as well as Visual Art, Performing Arts, Design and Technology, enabling students to tailor a program to their interests and ambitions.

Our Vocational Acceleration program is select entry, with students selected for the program through an expression of interest and interview.  This program mirrors the VCE Vocational Major and is for students who have selected a vocational pathway through Senior School, allowing them early entry to VET programs and Work Placement with the option of acceleration through the VCE Vocational Major.

Places in our Year 10 Vocational Acceleration program are limited.  To express your interest in joining our 2023 cohort, please complete an expression of interest form here

Year 10 is the final year of our SEAL program, and provides acceleration through VCE with students undertaking up to two VCE studies throughout the year to allow room for access to University Enrichment programs in Years 11 and 12.

Course Counselling takes place for students in Years 9 and 10 during Term 3 with further information provided to families regarding course options at that time.

Further information about Senior Certificate options, including VET can be found in the VCAA Student Guides via the links below.
