Newly appointed Principal, Mr Warren Dawson, has his sights set clearly on high expectations and outstanding learning opportunities. In 2017 there will be programs which have the potential to be the envy of schools across the state. With a cutting edge technology focus he has appointed a highly experienced leading teacher in the field of technology who will lead the students in the study of technological advancement and innovation. This program is supported by leading Melbourne universities and will give Bayswater Secondary College students the edge in gaining tertiary entrance places.
A new 3D design and printing studio will provide staff with a vast array of new teaching opportunities using this innovative technology across the curriculum. For example Biology students can create 3D, working models of various parts of the body. Humanities students can create 3D images of geographic contour lines or detailed 3D images of the earth’s core, Maths students will have the capacity to create 3D images of complicated mathematical ideas. Art and design students will be able to test their designs by printing them in 3D, Technology students will have the capacity to learn the latest software in 3D design and create their own innovations in a wide range of 3D applications.
Mr Dawson has a track record of creating programs of excellence. He was integral in the implementation of the highly successful Rowville Secondary School Sports Academy which is now the largest sporting academy in Victoria. The program is for students who display exceptional talent and aspire to reach the top in their chosen sport.
Mr Dawson is similarly committed to a culture of excellence for aspirational students at Bayswater Secondary College. He leads by example in creating a culture of respect for others, integrity and honesty. He has high expectations of staff and students in his pursuit of excellence and has set his sights on Bayswater Secondary College being a leading school in the Eastern region.
Mr Dawson has studied at Monmouth University in New Jersey and has played at the highest level, Division One in College Basketball in USA. He has had a distinguished career playing basketball at the elite level in Australia having played with the North Melbourne Giants and Southern Melbourne Saints in the National Basketball League.
He is currently the Director of Coaching at Casey Basketball Association.
His international perspective together with his proven ability of coaching at an elite level all provide him with well honed leadership skills which will lead Bayswater Secondary College into a very exciting next phase of its development.
