Bayswater students can really get to grips with contour maps and the associated mathematical calculations on their very own topographical feature called Flynn’s Hill.

Constructed by Mr Chris Flynn, Bayswater staff member, the site provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn first hand about a range topographical, geographical and mathematical concepts.

Using a variety of measuring techniques students learn about:

  • Reading, understanding & drawing contour maps
  • Calculating contour intervals
  • Identifying map features
  • Sketching scale drawings
  • Calculating slopes and gradients
